Prof. Norihiko Nakanishi was a dedicated teacher and researcher widely recognized for his contributions not only in Japan, but throughout the world. He received his graduate degree from Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, Japan in 1951. In that same year he became a Research Associate at Faculty of Engineering, Naniwa University (present Faculty of Engineering, Osaka Prefecture University). In 1961 he obtained his Ph.D from Kyoto University, but remained with the Osaka Prefecture University as a lecturer and an associate professor until 1963. In 1964 Professor Nakanishi started working with Kyoto University, and in 1972 he was promoted to a Full Professor position at Konan University, Kobe, Japan. In those years with these prestigious Universities, he has moved upwards, from a research associate in 1961 to Emeritus Professor in 1997 (1972 Professor, 1977 Head of Student Division, 1981 Advisor to the President, 1983 Dean of Faculty of Science, 1989 Dean of Faculty of Science, 1994 President of Konan University).
Prof. Nakanishi received JSPM Award for Distinguished Achievements in Research (Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy) in 1978, and 10 years later the Science Award Hyogo Prefecture.
He was awarded JSPM Award for Distinguished Service from Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy in 1994. He was also awarded The Orders of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon (Japanese Government) in 2005.
