Suk-Joong L. Kang
Problems and Solutions in Sintering Science and Technology
About the Book
This book presents a collection of problems and questions used in the author’s sintering course at KAIST from 1984 to 2019, many of which are adapted from Sintering: Densification, Grain Growth and Microstructure (Elsevier Butterworth-Heinemann, 2005). The material is organized into four parts covering the fundamentals of sintering science, bonding and densification, grain growth and microstructural evolution, and selected supplementary topics, including ionic compounds and diffusion-induced interface migration. The book follows a modified structure of the author’s widely used sintering textbook.
About the Author
Suk-Joong L. Kang is Professor Emeritus of Materials Science and Engineering at KAIST and a leading authority in sintering and microstructural evolution. He has published over 300 papers and authored the textbook Sintering: Densification, Grain Growth and Microstructure (2005). Dr. Kang developed the Pore Filling Theory of liquid-phase sintering and the mixed-mechanism principle of grain growth. He is a Fellow of ACerS, an Honorary Fellow of ECerS, a member of IISS, and a recipient of numerous international honors, including the Frenkel Award (2024).
